Originally, this was what I named the extremely ill-fated union of Mark, David, Phil, and myself. When we became irate at our laziness, everyone went out to form new band-style alliances, except me. Bootleg Blitzkrieg, army of one!

Den

Bootlegged from:

Dracula X (SNES)

"Die monster!"

Unfortunately, being one of my earliest creations, this really really sucks. Well maybe I'm being too tough on myself, the only real problem is the bass being so high that it's fighting a pitch battle with the other frequencies and everyone loses. I COULD fix it. I GUESS. But I don't like using CV music that's on either of the Dracula Battle CDs. It's been done, and it's been done better. bleh I give up.

North Star

Bootlegged from:

Fist of the North Star, S.C.A.T., and Blades of Steel (NES)

"You must destroy them.. the earth is counting on you. Good luck!"

Another early creation, totally obsessed with the bizarre music in FOTNS I looped it over and over and over (and over and over and over..) with mild to dramatic changes to the rate and EQ. I wouldn't have this up here, but one person said that it was neat once. Even though I didn't believe him.. And don't even now.. ah forget it. It's 'vintage'. Yeah that sounds right.

Neo Amerika

Bootlegged from:

Dracula X, Secret of Mana (SNES). Bio F.R.E.A.K.S. (N64)

"thanx 2 cemetery pimp!"

This was the first thing I threw together that somewhat resembled a coherent piece of music. Though somewhat uninspired, the little 'welcome to neo amerika.. citizen' always sounded like it SHOULD be a sample in something. I ran down to radio shack and bought a connector dealy just for that sample. I haven't used either since. I was so proud of this song at the time that I decided to name my 'album' after it.

Dragonfly King*

Bootlegged from:

Chakan the Forever Man (Genesis)

"fuck.. dying"

I made this song for Mark in some weak attempt to distract him from the loss of our friend Colin. Very very unhappy at the time, I tweaked the treble frequencies to a point that I thought was far past excess, I had some mental image piercing someone's eardrums just from the wackiness of the music itself and the weird gliding whine of the superfluous flange. Listening to it now, it actually worked out in a way that makes it sound very neat. For being so early in my 'career', I still like listening to this one.

The Firehawk Saga

Bootlegged from:

Firehawk (NES)

"Unlicensed Nintendo games have no rights."

I was shocked at how good the music was in this game, a little mixing and fuggin with the EQ and this thing basically glued itself together. The use of those shizzy NES waves is almost what I'd call genius. I'm not sure why I threw saga on the title, but it does seem to chronicle some terrifying adventure through.. time or something. burf.

The "End" Day

Bootlegged from:

Crystalis (NES)

"A great tower in the sky.."

I made this one after I had a decent grasp of what sounds ok, and what is complete audio sewage. Oddly enough, the only real criticism I've ever gotten regarding any of my 'music', was in regards to this song being flat and lifeless and otherwise boring. After listening to it very closely, I have concluded that it kicks ass. Sorry random whiny man.

Savage Water

Bootlegged from:

Ecco 2 (Genesis)

"The exodus begins here"

Making this was very frustrating. First of all, that Genesis YM format is.. 'inaccurate' to say the least. Normally it's not so bad that it would be bothersome, but on the particular piece of music the light drum beats ended up sounding like those pops you get on badly encoded mp3s, and the bass notes got this very freaky flangey noise dripping off of them. Second, I had to make this while listening to it through crappy headphones because hearing the same few seconds of audio over and over was apparently disturbing to one of the fifty thousand people that somehow came to live in this apartment. The volume was totally screwed up, and it's still not perfect really, but I don't have THAT much time to devote to something like this. I like the ending though, it earned me a few dirty looks ^-^ When you're listening to it, imagine you're drowning violently, and the ending is you actually dying. make sense now? happee!

These last 3 are a little different. First, they were created to be companion songs I guess, and second, they were created with people in mind for them to be dedicated to. There's a nice engine motif too. I am clever.

Dyna-Motor

Bootlegged from:

Ecco, Rocket Knight Adventures, and Chakan (Genesis)

"From the unspeakably degraded depths of electro mechanical perversion comes.. the DynaMotor"

I was pretty drunk when I made this. Though I'm not too fond of drinking, I always seem to be doing it. -.- Anyway I rolled out of bed to find out what the fugg this thing sounded like, and amazingly I don't think any amount of tweaking could have made this better. That howl that Chakan utters at the beginning of the game was really, IMO, an excellent bridge between what should have been two completely disharmonic melodies. The mixing was done very.. drunkenly, with what should have been sloppy overlaps, but again to my shock it almost seemed to lean more towards angry and unhinged than drunken and apathetic. An interesting fluke. Story of my life!

um.. sorry I had to throw that in.

This one is dedicated to Claire, because I always felt hopeless and chaotic and on the verge of breakdown when she was around. I would feel bad about making such an admission, but the chances that she'll ever see this are beyond nil. Regardless of everything, I love you. It really hurt when I realized I would never see you again, so me leaving here won't really affect you anyway. *shrug* I hope you're tough enough to never need any help.

Engine of Salvation

Bootlegged from:

Ecco (Genesis), Top Gear (SNES)

"At last we will be reunited with man"

No samples or rough transitions, just soothing fades. I wasn't really paying attention to the length however, and this ended up being the longest piece I've ever thrown together, clocking in at over 4 1/2 minutes. OK that doesn't seem like much, but most of these are in the minute to 2 minute range. *shrug* I was always fascinated by Top Gear's deeply involved electronic thumpings, and the fact that they're probably simplistic enough to recreate on a set of NES voices. Actually I'd really like to hear that. One day maybe.. Anyway, the whole thing is very giddy and happy and ends after the main loop with a very extended fade out. Fades are kind of a cop-out I think. Oh well, I suck. I'll get over it.

This one is for Shayla an Nancy an Lynny an Amy cause I love em, and makin happy lil things like this is definitely not my forte. And if I don't remember to say it, thanks, for everything. I'll be in touch yo.

Vile Compression

Bootlegged from:

Ecco and Ecco 2 (Genesis)

"The end of all things"

I made this one with the disappointment I had when I failed to meet zee. Was this really what was right? I don't have any more time for analysis. This will be the last musical dealy I make, because I'm leaving. Leaving leaving leaving forever. I love ya zee.

* "dragonfly king needs a special space on the bootleg blitzkrieg page or something, because it's really very excellent." - Addison Godel

So if you only have time to listen to one of them before your computer implodes.. yadda yadda ^-^
